Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Mahmud noted that the Damba Festival is more than a traditional celebration, describing it as an important platform for bringing together chiefs, elders, residents, visitors and other stakeholders to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Gonja people.

He stressed that the preservation of culture remains an important component of community development, adding that the Assembly is committed to working closely with traditional authorities to promote activities that foster unity, social cohesion and a strong sense of community identity.

The DCE further indicated that supporting the Damba Festival was a practical demonstration of the Assembly’s recognition of the important role traditional institutions play in the development of the Bole Traditional Area.

Receiving the items, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso I expressed his appreciation to Hon. Abdulai Mahmud and the Bole District Assembly for the timely intervention. The Paramount Chief commended the DCE for recognising the importance of the festival and for supporting its successful organisation.

The donation of the ten bags of rice and cash support is expected to contribute to hospitality, logistical arrangements and other activities associated with the 2026 celebration.
